Our Step-by-Step Investment Casting Process.
Investment casting involves a series of carefully controlled steps that transform a wax pattern into a durable, high-precision metal component. Here’s how we do it at Icon Techno Cast:
Accurate Die is made from aluminums block on CNC/VMC machines.
Molten wax is injected into a metal die under controlled pressure and temperature to form precise patterns with fine details.
Multiple wax patterns are assembled onto a wax runner or base, forming a wax tree that's ready to move into shelling.
The wax assembly is repeatedly dipped into ceramic slurry and coated with refractory sand to form a hard outer shell.
The complete shell is placed in an autoclave or furnace to remove the wax, leaving behind a hollow mold.
The shell is heated at high temperatures to increase its strength and eliminate any residual wax traces.
Molten metal is poured into the hot ceramic shell, filling the cavity created by the original wax pattern.
Heat treatment is carried out to achieve the desired micro-structure and mechanical properties.
Fettling is a post casting process of removing unwanted materials and cleaning the casting to achieve the final desired shape and surface finish.
Each part undergoes Visual casting inspection and quality checks as per internal or customer control plan.
Secondary processes like drilling, threading, or CNC machining are applied for tight tolerances and specific geometries.
